‘Tis the season, it seems, for making songs about drugs. Last December, Ab-Soul released a track about the perils of addiction called “D.R.U.G.S.” However, August Alsina’s moody and sensuous “Drugs” compares the sensation of being in love to being on illicit substances. R&B fans will note that other artists have covered this territory before — Ciara’s 2013 track “DUI” comes to mind. But at any rate, this is a nice reintroduction to a vocalist who has been relatively quiet since his 2015 album This Thing Called Life.
